Day 1: Arrival in Dubrovnik and Transfer to Trebinje

Meet your group and the local guide in the arrivals hall when you arrive in Dubrovnik. Visit the charming town of Trebinje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, which is well-known for its large, historic mills along the Trebisnjica River and its trading history dating back to the 18th century. After settling in, take a moment to relax and savor a welcome dinner by the river. 

 

Day 2: Trebinje to Sarajevo

See Sutjeska National Park, which has the nation’s highest peak and was the scene of the crucial battle of Sutjeska in WWII, which involved Yugoslav partisans. After lunch and a tour of the Tito WWII Heritage Monument, you will travel to Sarajevo, where you will spend three nights. Dinner will be served at a traditional Bosnian restaurant in the Bascarsija neighborhood. 

 

Day 3: Sarajevo

Explore Sarajevo’s rich cultural legacy throughout the day. Take a tour of Bascarsija, the historic Turkish neighborhood known for its handicrafts, to start. See the Latin Bridge, the scene of the murder of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Take a trip on the recently renovated Mt. Trebevic Cable Car for sweeping city views, and have lunch in the beautiful woods. Afterward, explore the Sarajevo Tunnel Museum to gain insight into daily life amid the city’s siege during the Bosnian War. 

 

Day 4: Lukomir

Visit the isolated community of Lukomir in the Bjelasnica Mountains, where people are still dressed traditionally. A beautiful stroll along the Rakitnica Canyon is one of the optional activities. After lunch on the mountain, discover the customs of the area. In the late afternoon, return to Sarajevo and stop at an outdoor café to sample some cevapi sausages from the area.

 

Day 5: Sarajevo to Jajce

Travel from Sarajevo to Travnik, which is tucked away in the valley of the Lavsa River. Several old buildings still stand in the town, which was once the capital of the Ottoman Empire. Proceed to Jajce for dinner and an overnight stay.

 

Day 6: Jajce to Mostar

Take an early morning tour of Jajce, stopping at the Pliva waterfall and the St. Luke’s Church ruins. After seeing the Pliva Lakes historic water mills, continue on to Mostar, where you will spend three nights. 

 

Day 7: Mostar and Blagaj

Day 8: Pocitelj and Kravice Waterfalls

Visit the historic town of Pocitelj, which is renowned for the preservation of its Ottoman and medieval buildings. Proceed to the breathtaking Kravice waterfalls for a swim or some leisure. We’ll have lunch somewhere before heading back to Mostar.

 

Day 9: Mostar to Dubrovnik

See the Vjetrenica Cave, renowned for its abundant underground life, and the Radimlja Necropolis, featuring its medieval tombstones, while traveling to Dubrovnik. Before spending the last night in Dubrovnik, stop for a tasting with a local family. Take a leisurely evening to explore the city. 

 

Day 10: Departure

Make your way to the airport in Dubrovnik so you can catch your flight back to the UK.
